Rita Ann Vasquez is an occupational therapist with an extensive clinical experience and knowledge in several areas of practice. Her focus is working with people to help them to learn how to care for their bodies and be able to enjoy the highest quality of life.
Rita holds a B.S degree and a M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. Prior to these degrees she earned a degree as a physical therapist from Nassau Community College and a degree as a licensed massage therapist from New York College of Health Professions. Along the way she studied under John F. Barnes specializing in Myofascial Release Techniques (MFR). In 2013 she was awarded the Recognition of Advanced Proficiency for the Physical Therapist Assistant in the area of musculoskeletal by the American Physical Therapy Association.
Rita has extensive experience in long-term care with the geriatric population, home based care in an out patient setting and in private practice where she integrates her manual skills. During her ten year tenure at a private clinic in Manhattan that specialized in repetitive strain injuries (RSI), she refined her manual skills along with cultivating a deeper knowledge and understanding of RSI along with chronic pain and appropriate interventions. For the past 11 years Rita provides corporate chair massage services where she integrated her extensive knowledge of injury prevention protocols into the workplace. As an occupational therapist she provides services in her private practice, home settings and in the workplace.
Offering workshops on the topic of the rise in RSI injuries. She focuses on the awareness, prevention and wellness in the ever-growing technology climate that we live in. Rita examines the misunderstood condition of RSI by many and focuses her mission on trying to provide awareness through education along with proper understanding in order for people to make adequate modifications, adjustments and possibly lifestyle changes. Using her multiple manual skills for intervention and strategies for prevention and wellness she offers useful solutions.
